OUR MISSION

Ponderosa Pomeranian Rescue is dedicated to rescuing Pomeranians and other petite breeds. Our mission is to find these dogs new, loving homes, and to provide appropriate vet care. We work with many animal shelters to help reduce pet overpopulation and the number of animals euthanized by local shelters.

The number of animals taken to shelters has been increasing at a staggering rate. Many have had very little contact with people and may need to learn how to interact and trust people again. Most of these dogs are resilient and will respond quickly to love and attention. It has been said that rescue dogs are extremely loyal companions because they can sense that they have been given a second chance at life. Because you are giving them the attention they deserve, you will also be rewarded with a pet that will always show love and appreciation, he will never forget that you were the one that saved his life.

Some of these animals have also been abused/neglected and many need major surgery or medical care due to their neglect. We pay for heartworm treatment which can cost in excess of $400. It is very painful and risky, and many of the dogs we take in are heartworm positive. We also pay for other types of life saving surgery and depend on donations received by individuals. We do not receive federal funding or grants to support our rescue efforts.
We are a Federal 501(c)3, all donations are tax deductible.

We also accept donations in the form of dog food, treats, blankets, beds, crates, toys, kongs, etc. Please contact us at info@ponderapom.com if you have items to donate or any questions about where to bring them. more information....

ABOUT POMERANIANS

Pomeranians and many other small dogs are "high maintenance" and are often left at shelters because their owners did not research the breed. Please research various breeds before you adopt a dog, it is the first step in your quest for the perfect dog. No matter how cute she may look that cutie pie could have more energy than you can tolerate, have predisposed genetic medical conditions you may not be willing to deal with or some other personality traits that might make you incompatible. We cannot stress how important it is to educate yourself before you commit to the care and well-being of a new pet for the next 10 to 15 years of your life, even if this means you don't adopt a pomeranian from us! YourPureBredPuppy.com provides information on 180 different breeds, including our most favorite...Pomeranians!! It also includes a must read article, Pomeranians...What's good about 'em...What's bad about 'em. Here are some Training Tips, Pet Care Advice and a list of our Veterinarians to help get you started too.
